Business challenge
In 2019, several new-age jobs could not find a suitable match due to skill gaps across sectors. According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), India is staring at a 29 million skill-deficit by 2030.
Our research focused on the renewable energy sector to map the planned developments skill-set supply demand assessment. The idea is to understand skill-sets expected from people working in renewable energy segment and its current status.
Top challenges our client wanted to understand was
– How the recent changes in the renewable energy segment will shape the demand for future skill-sets
– Available skill-sets and how much change could be expected from current skill-development program
– Top action points to be implemented to avoid any demand-supply gap of skilled manpower to meet future demand
What we did
We focused our research on the latest developments in the skills needed and trainings employed in the renewable energy sector.
Our main research objectives were
-To analyze the economic impact of the wind and solar projects across the Indian Energy sector
-To analyze the skills and training needs of domestic wind and solar markets
-To analyze the employment opportunities arising in the wind and solar energy markets
Outcome
Major skill-set gaps were identified and a detailed gap mitigation plan was prepared. The insights helped government identify expectation mis-match of all the stake holders – the employer, employees, and skill-development agency.
